Camping Checklist: Bring These Items With You

If you're looking to unplug and enjoy some one-on-one time with nature, camping at a local campground or state park could be just what you need to relax and recharge. However, bringing the right items along with you with can make or break your camping trip. You want a comfortable experience, which means you need to prepare beforehand. We compiled a checklist of items below, so you know exactly what to bring (however, we don’t expect you to bring every item!).

The Ultimate Camping Checklist:

  • Tent, tarp and sleeping bags
  • Extra blankets and towels
  • Waterproof matches, pots, pans and utensils
  • A utility knife and rope
  • Hammer
  • Extra stakes
  • Foldable chairs and table
  • Cast iron cookware/cooking utensils
  • Mugs/cups
  • Bottle and can opener
  • Emergency medical kit
  • Bug spray/bug bands
  • Bear spray (depending on where you're going)
  • Plenty of water (for drinking, cooking and cleaning)
  • Cooler packed with food, snacks and beverages
  • Biodegradable soap and hand sanitizer
  • Duct tape
  • Dental floss (always handy after a dinner of fresh grilled chicken or steak)
  • Ziploc bags
  • Trash bags
  • Hammock
  • Sunscreen/chap stick with SPF
  • Flashlight
  • Warm hat (80% of heat loss occurs through your head. You never know when you are going to get a chilly night)
  • Layers of clothes (no matter what time of year, it's the easiest and most effective way to control your body temperature)
  • Playing cards/board games (just for fun)
